PCL 3rd Floor Display presents “Dear Reader”

With our “Dear Reader” display on PCL’s 3rd floor, we’re celebrating letters in all their forms! A letter is its own art form, and a special way to connect with others (or with oneself). In this collection of materials, you’ll find epistolary novels, letter collections, and even a few diaries. We hope this display gives you a new perspective on a well-known figure, or inspires you to write a postcard, letter, email, or diary entry! Do you need more inducement? Emily Dickinson wrote in an 1882 letter “A Letter always seemed to me like Immortality, for is it not the Mind alone, without corporeal friend?” (Emily Dickinson Museum).
