Borrowers with items checked out for a seven-day loan period or longer may renew those items in person or online. It is the borrower's responsibility to keep track of due dates and to renew on time. Borrowers with semester loans may be able to renew eligible items approximately five weeks in advance of their due date.
Renew in-person:
Most library materials may be renewed in-person at any University of Texas Libraries check out desk. Some materials, for example reserve and other limited circulation materials, may only be renewed at the desk from which they were checked out. Due to demand, some reserve and limited circulation materials may not be eligible for renewal.
Renew online:
Most library materials may be renewed online using My Library Account. Borrowers may want to attempt online renewal one or two days before the due date so that if online renewal is unsuccessful, there is time to renew those items in person or to return them by the due date.
Please be aware that in the following circumstances, online renewal is prevented.
- borrower's checkout privileges are blocked.
- another borrower has placed a hold or recall on the item.
- the item has a special status or a loan period shorter than 7 days.
Library fines that accrue due to the borrower’s inability to renew are the responsibility of the borrower.
