The University of Texas Libraries is recognizing UT GIS Day 2023 this Wednesday, November 15, in the new Scholars Lab in the Perry-Castañeda Library.
This year’s theme is "Celebrating Open Geospatial Science," focusing on how students, faculty, and staff are incorporating open science practices into their GIS work while also providing opportunities for attendees to learn about services and resources that support open geospatial research on campus.
The day will feature a full slate of exciting events, including a talk by Caitlin Carter (HELIOS) and Kevin Worthington (Colorado State University) on geospatial open science and a keynote talk from Dr. Qiusheng Wu (University of Tennessee) who will share his work in the areas of geospatial data science and open source software development, as well as a panel featuring GIS professionals representing a diverse array of local employers who will share about their career paths and work experiences.
